Classic Themed Movies with Teen Spins

Personally- I hate this.

When writers decide they are going to take a piece of classic literature (more often than not Shakespeare) set it in modern times, a give it a cast of ditsy, unfunny, college or high school-aged kids. Can you say "Gag Me!" any other way? I think not.

But another note is that all these films end up being horrible and some don't even perform well at the box office. So again- what's the point of making 'em?

She's the Man
I'm guessing you know that StM was adapted from Twelfth Night. And I really hate the movie; I just think the script is poorly executed and the acting is lousy. This also happens to be one of my least favorite movies of all time.

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
And with the My Fair Lady news that mentions Pygmalion, I'm confused. But CoaTDQ (too long a title, by the way) involves a play based on Pyggie and set in modern times.

I can't be the only one to have realized this!
Why can't writers come up with original stories, huh?
